Nanshan, formerly known as Guanghua Mountain, is about 2 kilometers south of Dazu City. There is a temple on the top of the mountain, named Yuhuang Temple, with a serene scenery. The temple is surrounded by lush forests and green trees, and has always been visited by literati and poets to cool down, enjoy tea, sing and sing. Therefore, it is known as the "Nanshan Cuiping". The Nanshan Stone Carvings are located on the picturesque peak of Nanshan Mountain. They were excavated during the Shaoxing period of the Southern Song Dynasty (1131-1162), with slight additions during the Ming and Qing dynasties. There are four caves of statues, three steles, and eleven inscriptions. With Sanqing Cave as the center, niches such as Zhenwu Emperor, Three Holy Mothers, and Dragon Cave are excavated along the cliff walls in an east-west direction. In addition to statues, the inscriptions on the steles of the Song, Ming, and Qing dynasties in Nanshan also have extremely high calligraphic artistic value. Among them, the "He Guangzhen Stele" from the Chunyou period of the Southern Song Dynasty has important historical value for studying the social history of the eastern Sichuan region in the Southern Song Dynasty. It was listed in the The World Heritage List on December 1, 1999.
