Chongqing Longping colorful pastoral scenic area is located in Changhong Village, Shiwan Town, Dazu District, backed by Bayue Mountain and confronts huaiyuan river, with an area of 1.48 square kilometers. With fresh natural environment and beautiful rural scenery, the scenic Area is 23 kilometers away from the urban area of Dazu, 31 kilometers away from the 5A scenic area of Dazu Rock Carvings, and 57 kilometers away from urban area of Chongqing. It is a well-known rural tourism destination integrating pastoral scenery, popular science research, parent-child recreation, farming experience, and leisure meals and accommodation in the Bashu Cultural Tourism Corridor.

The scenic area takes Yuan Longping and hybrid rice IP as its core resources, creating core landscapes such as 500 acres of colorful rice fields and rice shape sightseeing tower. It has the Chongqing branch of the National Hybrid Rice Engineering Research Center and the Yuan Longping Hybrid Rice Science Popularization Exhibition Hall. In 1952, Academician Yuan Longping, who was studying at Southwest Agricultural University, embarked on a journey to pursue his dreams and set sail for his career from Dazu. In 2018, Academician Yuan Longping personally inscribed the name of the scenic area and wrote a message of "Shiwan Fragrances, Fragrance for Ten Thousand Miles". Chongqing Longping colorful pastoral is the only tourist attraction in China named after Academician Yuan Longping.

Using rice as a medium, promoting tourism through agriculture, weaving the dream of enjoying the cool under the crops. The scenic area invests huge amounts of money every year to create colorful farmland and land art landscapes, and successively holds the Rice Shrimp and Cabbage Culture Festival in spring and the Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival in autumn, creating a product system of "appreciating flowers in spring and rice in autumn". Various scenic spots have been built, including 3D wall painting and land painting, shared farm, agricultural culture corridor, hobbit cabin, colorful farm, wishing tree, dyeing and embroidery intangible cultural heritage workshop, and Grain Rain Qingshe homestay. A "Yuan" dream rice fragrance themed study activity has also been developed. In recent years, the scenic area has successively won honors such as China Beautiful Leisure Village, National Civilized Village, National Rural Governance Demonstration Village, Chongqing Leisure Agriculture and Rural Tourism Demonstration Village, and Bashu Beautiful Courtyard Demonstration. In 2023, the scenic area received 300,000 visitors and 30,000 study groups.
