On July 9, the Chongqing Institute of Humanities and Science and Technology "Tracing the Roots of 'Rice' Bottom" Practice Group went to Changhong Village, Shiwan Town, Dazu District, Chongqing City to carry out the social practice of going to the countryside during the summer vacation, observing the development of rural revitalization with practical actions, and promoting high-quality and efficient agriculture, and livable and workable villages.
On the morning of the same day, under the leadership of the cadres of Changhong Village, the practice group visited the colorful pastoral field in Longping, climbed the observation deck to overlook the whole picture of the countryside, and listened to the development process of the countryside.
It is reported that Changhong Village covers an area of 5.2 square kilometers, with a population of more than 3,500 people and a total of 2,684 acres of cultivated land, of which 300 acres are occupied by rice planting, and Changhong Village won the title of "National Civilized Village" in 2020. Changhong Village focuses on rice planting, develops the production mode of "fish-rice symbiosis" and "shrimp-rice symbiosis", and develops the winter shrimp breeding industry according to the local climatic conditions to improve the village's income. The rice yield can reach 300 catties per mu per year, forming a large-scale rice processing and sales, and forming a local brand "Shiwan fragrant rice". Longping Colorful Pastoral is a landscape composed of five colors: red, white, green, blue, and black, and the theme of the painting is composed of current political hotspots and Dazu stone carvings every year.
During the visit to the colorful countryside, Professor of the School of Tourism of Chongqing Normal University and Honorary Village Mayor of Changhong Village talked about the importance of developing tourism according to local conditions and the importance of integrating the secondary and tertiary industry services in rural development.
In addition, Changhong Village has also set up a cultural corridor in the activity square, by posting examples of advanced typical characters, playing the role of "learning advanced models and promoting rural civilization", and placing books and computers in the villagers' activity room in Hemei Courtyard for villagers to read and use, so as to better promote the development of rural civilization and the improvement of villagers' cultural literacy. Under the leadership of village cadres, the practice group also conducted household visits to gain an in-depth understanding of the basic living conditions of the grassroots people.
